while i am no Saints fan, i long maintained the belief that in 2009 they were a better team than the Indianapolis Colts. both teams had undefeated streaks that ran well into the season, but the Saints had a far more challenging schedule than Indianapolis did and i always felt that their wins carried much more weight and had more substance. but i guess people were too captivated by Peyton Manning’s skill and charisma to really take any notice. after all, he is one of the best quarterbacks of the 2000s and seemed certain to follow the 2007 patriots to an undefeated season. meanwhile the Saints have had the nickname “the aints” haunt them for most of their existence. thus for nearly all of the 2009 season football fans nationwide seemed to believe that the Colts were the superior team.
i figured if they both had the chance to play each other, the Saints would win. well, we got the best venue possible: the super bowl!
..and i guess the best way to describe how i feel now is VINDICATED.
congratulations new orleans!

Despite GOP gains, most states remain blue.
“In total, 23 states plus the District of Columbia can be classified as solidly Democratic, with a 10 percentage-point or greater advantage in party affiliation in favor of the Democrats. This includes most of the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions, most of the Great Lakes region, and the Pacific Coast.
Another 10 states can be considered Democratic leaning, in which the state’s Democratic supporters outnumber Republican supporters by at least 5 percentage points but less than 10 points. These are Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, New Hampshire, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, Indiana, and Tennessee.
Four states are solidly Republican, with a better than 10-point advantage in Republican affiliation — Wyoming, Utah, Alaska, and Idaho. Alabama qualifies as the lone Republican-leaning state, with a 6-point advantage in Republican affiliation.”

Fascinating!

i haven’t bought a non-digital record since 2005. interestingly enough, it was gorillaz’s demon days in the spring of 2005. well here we are 5 years later and for old time’s sake, i think i’ll go to the record store and get this one.
march 3rd, 2010. a week before british and american people can get their hands on it. and the two main guys behind these projects arent even japanese!

President Obama’s 2010 State of the Union address.

it was good. i’m not sure he will said anything that will bring back independents who allied with the Democrats in 2006 and 2008. but if he follows through on his centrist economic proposals, he will likely earn some of them back. 2010 is going to be about job creation and the economy. i’m not sure where health care fits into all of this, but i wish his administration with luck. this is going to be a tough year, and they will need some of it.

obama is going to give his first state of the union address as president on wednesday night (thursday morning for us expats in asia).
you can watch it here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
or download an app right to your iphone to watch it there.
we certainly are in the 21st century now. say what you will about the media being supersaturated with obama-everything, but the white house is certainly tech-savvy.
i expect obama to discuss jobs and unveil some plans for the economy for 2010. midterm elections will be here before you know it and, since the election in my lovely home state, things are starting to look dicey for the democrats. obama has all ready proposed various ideas for the economy, including a spending freeze and attacks on the big banks. maybe this new found populism will go over well with voters, but lets all hope it doesn’t pull the rug out from under the fledgling economic recovery.
the elephant in the room? not the GOP, the health care bill.
